Norah King finds an injured man on her land. Rather than leave him to the birds she manages to get him back to her house. She decides to take care of him until he is well enough to leave. The injured man, Quincy Barnes, accepts her hospitality and they enjoy having conversations about anything and everything. After all what do they have to lose since they will be parting soon never to see each other again.
Norah is betrothed to Jake in a marriage of convenience deal in order to save her family land that she loves. She confides in Quincy about her upcoming betrothal and he confides her how he used to fight for money. She asks Quincy to start a new life when he moves on from her place and he promises to do so. She tries to tell Jake about Quincy being in her home but he is too busy to listen. Eventually Quincy and Norah say their goodbyes and separate to start their new lives. But what happens when Jake finds out about Quincy? And how does Quincy intend to start his life over?
First of all I totally did not see the direction this book takes coming! Wow! This story is so good! I admit I thought the first part with Norah and Quincy's open conversations was a bit weird but oh my goodnesss does this story get good. The main characters are great, and I also love the side characters. Loved how the author and main characters incorporated Jane Austen's Persuasion including Captain Wentworth's letter! Clean read! Definitely recommend!
