The Secrets of Emberwild by Stephenia H. McGee
My Review
Do you love books about horses? What about a little mystery thrown in? Then you will love this book! On his deathbed, Nora’s father tells her that everything their horse farm is built on is a lie. A lie that started fifteen years ago. What does he mean by that? Nora Fenton loves horses, Arrow in particular. She was to train him but her Uncle and Mother do not want her to. Silas’s father died 15 years ago under odd circumstances, trampled by his horse, but the horse disappeared. Where did the horse go and what actually happened to his father? Was it a true an accident? Silas is determined to find out. He arrives at the Fenton horse farm to work while he tries to solve the mystery. There he meets Nora, a woman determined to do what she wants, train horses. They work together and start to have feelings towards each other but they both are wondering the same thing. Did Nora’s father kill Silas’s father and steal the horse that started their farm? And what is with all these strange “accidents”?
I really enjoyed this book! I loved Nora’s character. She is feisty, stubborn, strong willed, and a go getter. But she also respects her mother and tries to do her mothers wishes the best she can. Silas is strong, heroic, protective, and caring. I really liked Nora and Silas’s relationship! Great chemistry! I love how well they work together as a team. Overall great read and I definitely recommend!
