The Elusive Miss Ellison Book Review

The Elusive Miss Ellison by Carolyn Miller

Miss Lavinia Ellison is a reverend’s daughter. She cares deeply for the poor and needy. She lost her mother when she was younger. The new Earl of Hawkesbury arrives in town Nicholas. Nicholas’s brother’s carelessness killed Lavinia’s mother and Lavinia doesn’t want anything to do with the new Earl especially since he doesn’t seem to care about anything but himself. However Nicholas is somewhat fascinated by her and begins to care about his people. Situations arise where they are in each other’s company and the walls start to come down.

Essentially this is a Pride and Prejudice type story. I enjoyed the story overall. However I thought the book needed to be about 100 pages shorter as some scenes dragged on too long in my opinion. The characters were great and I loved watching them grow. Lavinia was a little too untrusting at times for me.
