This was such a fun read! Alice Rosemeyer and her sister run away to Larkhall, by invitation, to escape an arranged marriage. While there she figures out a scheme, with an older lady to make money. She will pose as a man, The Ace of Hearts, who will help men gain the heart of the woman of their choice. She believes she can do this well because she helped her stepbrother Isaac write a love letter. What she doesn’t know is her stepbrother just eloped with Diana Herring. She is also trying to get her sister married off to Matthew, who is also at Larkhall. Thomas Herring is angry that his sister Diana ran off with Isaac after he said no to the marriage. He decides to go to Larkhall and try to find a match with Bridget. While there he enlists the help of The Ace of Hearts to win Bridget’s heart but quickly discovers that The Ace of Hearts is really Alice. He quickly switches his interest in Bridget to Alice. But what he doesn’t know is Alice is Isaac’s stepsister and she helped Isaac win Diana over with a letter she wrote.
I really enjoyed this story! So well written and really fun. I loved all the humor and there was great romantic tension. I really liked both Alice and Thomas’s characters, very well developed. I loved their relationship and how it progressed. I want to know what happens with Bridget, Louisa and Matthew. Overall this story was really fun, clean and well done. I definitely recommend!
