An Autumn Kiss Book Review

An Autumn Kiss

3 Novellas by Laura Rollins, Annette Lyon, and Lisa H. Catmull

The Plucky Miss Ruth by Laura Rollins

5/5 stars

Ruth and her cousin Nettie walk in the gardens every day. Ruth calls it being stuck in a continuous loop. Everyday they pass the same people and say and do pretty much the same thing. One day Lord Lambert comes and joins Ruth and Nettie for their stroll. Soon Ruth and Lord Lambert develop a friendship. Ruth sees Mr. Parker in the gardens (He was previously engaged to Nettie) and she plans an “accidental” meeting between the two with the help of Lord Lambert. Of course it’s much harder than she thinks. I really enjoyed this story. I loved Ruth and Lord Lamberts interactions. They are so cute. Overall great story and clean read.

Mr. Dowling’s Remedy by Annette Lyon

4.5/5 Stars

Beverly Stanton is put into an asylum by her stepfather and mother. Her stepfather says she suffers from hysteria and has gotten 2 doctors to sign off on it therefore landing her in an asylum. Crandall Dowling was in school to become a doctor when he started having twitches and verbal outbursts. He got committed to the same asylum as being possessed. (He has Tourette’s) Beverly meets Crandall and instead of being scared of him or making fun of him, she befriends him. They work together to try to figure out a way to get out of the asylum. I really enjoyed this one. It was definitely a different love story as I have never seen one take place between two patients at an asylum. I loved it! Only thing is there was some colorful words but not too bad.

A Railway Through the Roses by Lisa H Catmull

5/5 Stars

Adrian and Annie have been friends since childhood. Annie, also known as Lady Baxter, is a Baroness, with lots of money. She is looking for someone to love her for her and not her money. Adrian is looking for someone with money to marry and help him fund a railway since Annie refuses to help. He continually asks for Annie’s help with the heiresses. She sees that 2 out of 3 of the heiresses are in love with other men but Adrian doesn’t want that to be true. He proceeds with option 3 but it seems like Annie keeps getting in the way. I loved this story. I loved Adrian and Annie’s relationship! So adorable and funny. But also I felt their heartache, great writing skills on the author for that!

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from the author. All views expressed are only my honest opinion.
