A Dash of Romance by Paullett Golden
Abigail is a want to be writer, and vicar’s daughter. She dreamed up this marvelous hero for her book, who she continues to work on throughout the book. When a Viscount that she has no interest in proposes marriage what is she to do? A fake betrothal of course! She gives no name to the Viscount but describes the hero of her book as her betrothed. She tells him it is a secret betrothal. The Viscount gets angry and asks her father why he didn’t say she was already betrothed, and her father is hurt to not know about it himself. Great. Now she has to continue in this fake betrothal until the Viscount finds someone else to marry. Then she will tell her father the truth. Percival is trying to better his life from past sins kind of when suddenly no one is happy with him. He receives a letter from the viscount, the Viscount thinks Percival is Abigail’s betrothed. He matches the description exactly. So that’s why people are mad at him. Except he isn’t betrothed to her, he doesn’t even know her. He gets a letter from his father saying how proud he is of him for getting married as he requested/demanded. Great. Now he must go to this woman and set things right. Is she trying to trap him into marriage?
Oh my goodness, I loved this book! Percy’s character is so great! I love his sarcasm, teasing, joking, caring personality. There were so many times I was smiling and laughing while reading this book. He has great comebacks. Abigail is also a great character. I love how she wants to be a writer, how she can stand on her own up against Percy. She is very caring and has a carefree side to her. I love how they work together. I loved the author’s writing style. Very easy to read and great flow. This is a great book and I definitely recommend.
Christian Fiction rating: 4 Stars Clean fiction rating: 5 Stars
CAUTION SPOILERS: Now for the tricky part of reviewing this book. It is labeled as Christian Fiction but I would say it is not. There is one swear word and no mention of God/Jesus, and no scripture or Christian message. In my opinion the kissing scenes are too sensually described (suckling, nibbling and use of tongue) again my opinion some people are okay with that. Also some people might not like a mention of someone being gay. However I would classify this book as a CLEAN romance. That’s why there are two different ratings.
