My Review

If you love Georgette Heyer books, you will love this book. This book is such fun. The writing is very good, however it is written differently than what you would usually read in the modern age so please give your brain a chance to adjust. It took me a couple chapters for my brain to fully adjust then I read it fine.

The story begins with Lord Atticus Bryde, The Connoisseur, traveling along the road when his driver sees a carriage off the road. His driver stops to help, but the man doesn’t want his help and a woman comes angrily out of the carriage and the man smacks her and now she is unconscious. The man put her back in the carriage. The man says that it is his daughter and not to worry about it. So the driver and Lord Bryde don’t interfere and leave. Later, Lord Bryde stops at an inn for a drink. While there the same man that was on the side of the road came in carrying the unconscious woman and lays her down. He goes to look for someone. Lord Bryde thinks there is no way this woman is the man’s daughter and he quickly decides to grab her and run. He steals her away to his sister and brother in laws house and there the adventure begins.

I really enjoyed this story. Lord Bryde is such a great character! I love his wit and his personality is just so great. Lord and Lady Bratten (Brother-in-law and sister) are great as well. Reyeh Léopard (the unconscious woman), is a very strong character. Reyeh’s aunt is a horrible woman. And her uncle isn’t any better. I really liked the way Lord Bryde and Reyeh got together, I really liked their relationship. Overall a great read and I definitely recommend!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
