Healing Hazel by: Jennifer Moore
My Review
Set in the Victorian period during the Carlist Wars of Spain. Hazel Thornton travels to visit her father, a general, but plans get cancelled and she has to go back to London. On the way back, an explosion wrecks their train while passing through Spain. Her traveling companion Miss Westbrook is injured as well as Captain Bryant who is left unconscious.
Dr. Jim Jackson and his team arrive hours later at the site. He is upset that Hazel has been treating the victims. Doesn’t she know it can make the situation worse if not properly treated. What he doesn’t know is that Hazel has had some nurse training but due to her panic attacks she gets while in tight spaces, she dropped out. They are all taken to The Red Cross international hospital and Hazel plans to help out while her friends recover much to the objections of Dr Jim Jackson.
I enjoyed this book a lot. My first read by Jennifer Moore. I will be reading more. I loved how Hazel gains confidence in her abilities. I love Dr Jackson and Hazels relationship as it develops. I loved Miss Westbrook, she was great and funny! Also it was fun learning about a piecemeal of history I never knew about, The Carlist Wars. Overall great story and very clean. Definitely recommend! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I received a E-ARC of this book from Netgalley, all thoughts are my own.
